What is the Bramley and Little London Music Festival?
There are many people in the village who have attended the Festival regularly since 2005, and yet there are many more who have never heard of it! It is a 3 day event that takes place in St James’s Church every 2 years. It is the brain child of Wendy Peagam who has been running it with her husband Anthony since 2005. The idea was to bring beautiful music into our beautiful Church of St James and to bring local people together. Initially the performers were students from the Royal College of Music, but as our Festival has developed more and more professionals have performed in our ancient Church. Their only instruction is to entertain, so you won’t hear long pieces of obscure music, but well known classical and non-classical pieces.
I have now taken over the running of the Festival with my husband Jonathan so I am hoping to emulate the success of Wendy and Anthony. They are a hard act to follow so wish us luck!
This year’s Festival runs from Thursday 15 June to Saturday 17 June. The concerts start at 7.30 and usually last until about 9.15 with a short interval part way through. Tickets remain £12.50 (£6 for children) and include a complimentary glass of wine and canapés served in Cross House after the concert.
